Claire & Matthew – Bimbadgen Palmers Lane

Can you please tell us a little about yourselves?: Claire is an assistant principal, primary classroom teacher. Matthew is a business manager for Audi. We both met through Matthew’s step brother at his birthday pool party. We both weren’t exactly looking for a relationship, but made the decision to both meet a few times for dinner after the pool party, and kept seeing each other. After about three months we’d made it official and have been together ever since.

How did the proposal take place that lead to your Bimbadgen Palmers Lane wedding?: We both aren’t big on huge public proposals, so wanted to keep it simple and private for both of us. The original date for the proposal was in March, I had come back from school camp exhausted and sick, and our second bedroom flooded to the point were we had to take up all the carpet. Safe to say Matt re-scheduled the proposal for a later date. About a month later we’d decided to do something nice for our 4 year anniversary which Matt had used that opportunity to propose. He booked a fancy room at a wonderful hotel overlooking Sydney harbour. We checked in and went to our room where Matt got down on one knee, said a few really lovely things and asked me to marry him. We popped a bottle of champagne and celebrated with a extravagant dinner. It was perfect for us.

What have you learnt about each other since being together?: We both compliment each other better than what we’d expected. Matt is the calm to my chaos. I think we’ve been each other’s biggest support and fan over the five years, pushing each other to do more to achieve our goals whatever they are. We make each other laugh, we finish each other’s sentences and are completely in love.

What is the vision for your Bimbadgen Palmers Lane wedding?: Our vision for the day is for it to be one big party with everyone we love in the same space. The styling of the venue (Bimbadgen Estate) is a mix of rustic furniture and soft blush, toffee, white, green, beige tones. Simple, rustic, everyone having a great time.

What was the reason for selecting Bimbadgen Palmers Lane as your wedding venue?: We both really enjoyed visiting the Hunter Valley and loved the privacy of Bimbadgen Estate. We both have a strong connection to the outdoors, love hiking, camping, snowboarding, being outside, so the rolling hills and vineyards around the property is the perfect backdrop for our Bimbaden Palmers Lane wedding.

Are there any extra details that you would like to share?: We want everyone to have fun and celebrate love! And us of course haha.
