Ashley & Steve – Gunners Barracks Wedding, Mosman

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?: We are both Police Officers. We met in 2012 when Steve began working at Mascot Police Station. I was already stationed there. We started working together on the same team and became really good friends. We remained friends for about seven years while life took us in different directions, but in 2019 we started dating and planning a future together.

How did the proposal take place that lead to your Gunners Barracks wedding in Mosman?: Steve proposed during the COVID lockdown on Good Friday in 2020. We were unable to celebrate Easter with family and had gone for a little walk and a takeaway coffee. While out for a short time, Steve proposed near the beach.

What have you learnt about each other since being together?: We have both learnt the importance of making the most of every moment in life and enjoying the time together and with our beautiful daughter.

What is the vision you have for your Gunners Barrack wedding?: My vision for our wedding day is that it will be an intimate and relaxed occasion that we can share with our family and friends. The inspiration came from a wedding I had seen online in Queensland, and I thought it looked modern and elegant.

What was the reason for selecting Gunners Barracks in Mosman for your wedding venue?: Steve gave me a birthday gift years ago to go to High Tea at the Gunners’ Barracks. I fell in love with the tea room and its chandeliers, the Harbour back-drop and the ferns and greenery as you walk down to the venue. I also love the sandstone courtyard, which has a rustic feel.
