Courtney & Jake – Blue Wren Mudgee Wedding

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?: I (Courtney) am a primary school teacher. I absolutely love my job and it brings me so much joy supporting little people through the beginning of their life journey. Jake is a salesman and loves meeting new people each day. We met in high school but were never all that close. Our paths crossed here and there and our friends tell us that we were always a little ‘flirty’ together but nothing eventuated. A few years after finishing high school we both went on a holiday to Forster with our friends and the rest is history. We later discovered that we went to the same preschool, so I guess you could say we actually met in preschool when we were 4 and 5?

How did the proposal occur that lead to your Blue Wren Mudgee wedding?: Jake proposed at a lookout overlooking the beach in Forster, a place where our families spend holidays every year. It was simple, sweet and filled with love. I was searching the water for dolphins and I turned around to find Jake on one knee. He made sure our best friends and siblings were watching on facetime too.

What have you learnt about each other since being together?: We have learnt that we are the best team, we compliment each other in more ways than we ever thought we could and we enjoy very similar things. We both love the outdoors and being active. We love a good weekend escape to the middle of the bush, a relaxing evening by the fire and a trip to the beach house in summer.

Can you share a little about the vision you have for your Blue Wren Mudgee wedding?: Our vision was to turn our wedding into a weekend away with our closest family and friends. We love going away and immersing ourselves into nature so a wedding weekend in Mudgee seemed like the best idea. Jake envisioned lots of laughter, great music, plenty of beers, a good scotch and a sneaky game of golf and home run derby. I envisioned a relaxing weekend filled with love and laughter, a time to catch up with friends and family, live music and earthy vibes. We couldn’t wish for anymore than a beautiful weekend away at Blue Wren Farm with the ones we love to celebrate our love.

What was the reason for selecting Blue Wren Farm in Mudgee for your wedding?: I fell in love with Blue Wren Farm whilst searching for wedding venues well before we were engaged. Many years later, after looking at a few different venues, I came right back to where I started. We loved the simplicity, open space, beautiful vineyards and mix of modern, industrial and country vibes. The venue reminds us of our weekend adventures and gave off such a relaxing vibe. Mudgee is not only such a beautiful town, but it is filled with beautiful people and that made us love our choice even more!
