Bec & Nelson – Wallalong House

Before I give you some context about the lovely couple featured below in this Hunter Valley Wedding, I thought now may be a good time just to touch on the way I edit and the type of work I like to produce. Many wedding photographers can often get categorised into two different categories. That being a light and airy or dark and moody photographer. Myself on the other hand, I find that I sit somewhere in the middle. I neither lean one way or the other. Instead, I like to edit my images in a more natural way. Rather than push the edit of an image in an unnatural direction based on a given style, I like to allow the environment and the way in which an image was shot to dictate the outcome of the edits. Just thought it was mentioning in case you’re reading this and wondering which type of photographer I am.

Anyway, that’s enough about me. Now it’s time to get to know Bec & Nelson. Nelson is a carpenter by trade and Bec is a medical secretary. The story first began when they met at a mutual friends 21st birthday a number of years ago. Bec tells me that Nelson loves his hobbies and is always living for the “now”! But they both make a conscious effort to try and enjoy every little moment in life as it passes by. The proposal which lead to their Hunter Valley wedding happen to occur on one very special Christmas day. After all the presents but one had been opened, Nelson leaned over and plucked the last big box from under the tree and passed it to Bec. As she lifted back the lid, in Nelsons handwriting she saw the words “Will you marry me” with a Ring propped up! She told me that it was at this very moment, her dream had become a reality!

Apparently it was a fairly easy decision to make when it cam to deciding on their Hunter Valley wedding venue. Both Bec & Nelson loved everything that Wallalong House had to offer and said that the venue gave them “such a warm and fuzzy feeling”. The towering fig trees coupled with the lush green property blew them away and gave them a calming sense of home. It was also a big benefit that both their families were able to stay on the property. When it came to the styling for their wedding at Wallalong House, they went with a classic, modern and elegant look. Rather than going over the top, the couple opted for a “less is more” approach in order to achieve a sleek and minimalistic style which they totally pulled off.
