Stephanie & Matthew – Linseed House Wedding

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?: Matt and I met in one of the most unromantic ways, online dating. From the early days, I knew he was different. He was very kind-hearted and always so attentive. We were so similar in our values, our goals, and our dry sense of humour that we hit it off pretty quickly. I work in healthcare as a hospital pharmacist and Matt works in financial services and corporate banking, so I was surprised our personalities were so aligned.

How did the proposal take place that lead to your Linseed House Wedding at The Grounds Of Alexandria?: Matt’s proposal took me completely by surprise. Surprised not just by the proposal itself but that he was ready to settle down with me so soon as we hadn’t been dating for very long. He’s not usually one to be able to keep secrets from me, but he managed to devise an elaborate plan that was months in the planning. He arranged for a curated bohomenian-style picnic in a North Sydney park overlooking the Harbour Bridge. Unfortunately we arrived to the event too soon so Matt tried too hard to stall 20 minutes of our time by circling this park, taking many rest breaks, and requesting many photos for someone who usually takes none. His bizarre behaviour got the better of me and I had to ask if this set-up was his doing. He had decided that he could wait no longer, so he brought me straight to the picnic and got down on one knee.

What have you learnt about each other since being together?: What surprises me each time is how fundamentally the same we are for almost everything. I have never met someone who is on the same page as me with opinions, thoughts, values, humour, pleasures, and goals. Together we are very easy-going people, and our time spent has been so easy and so smooth.

What was the vision for your Linseed House Wedding: Thematically, we envision our wedding at the Grounds Of Alexandria to be a romantic glamour with a whimsical vibe. Our colour schemes includes deep romantic wine and burgundy colours, with splashes of soft whites and pinks, inspired by the grandness of Beauty & the Beast, and The Phantom of the Opera. It may appear over the top for some things but grandness is beauty. We hope to add some touches of our fun personality into the wedding as we are not one for traditional weddings.

Why did you select Linseed House in The Grounds Of Alexandria for your wedding?: Linseed House appealed to us because of it’s natural, raw, rustic charm. I love the expanse of the high ceilings, the glamour of the chandaliers, the rustic exposed brick, the whimsical and magical feel of the fairy lights canopies & The Grounds itself, and the natural and overwhelming greenery, pottery and florals around the place. Their inhouse florists, chefs, and design teams are amazing so it has been incredibly stress-free working with them. It also catered to our needs with regards to capacity, menu, and financially.
