Sasha & Andrew – The Dunes, Palm Beach

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?: We are both high school teachers and met at school around 3 years ago. We enjoy a relaxed lifestyle, plenty of time outdoors and have chosen a wedding location that we think really embraces that. We are both really big on family and friends and love spending time with them either at home or out and about.

How did the proposal take place that lead to your Dunes Palm Beach Wedding?: Andrew proposed at Balmoral Beach headlands. On a very hot and sticky morning, after smuggling the ring in its box in his underpants, we finally reached the summit. Here, after waiting some time for privacy, Andrew finally popped the question. He was relieved to finally be able to relax and we were both over the moon!

What have you learnt about each other since being together?: Having spent much time in lockdown together, we have learnt much about each other, more than just Sasha‘s love of reality Tv and Andrew’s of sport. Although, instantly drawn together, we both have discovered passion within each other for food, drink, family and fun and this has only strengthened over time. With such similar values we have learnt that we are a perfect match.

What was the vision for your Dunes Palm Beach Wedding: Our vision for the day is to encompass all that a coastal Dunes Palm Beach wedding can in terms of mood and feel, whilst still embracing a simple and elegant style. We want a relaxed vibe with good food, drink and merriment. Ultimately, representing us as people and incorporating so many of our family and friends who are likeminded in that sense. The outdoor nature of the ceremony at Wiltshire Park and reception at Dunes add to this and should be host to some timeless memories for us.

Why did you select Dunes in Palm Beach For your wedding?: We loved the general aesthetic of the venue, with its open spaces and natural surroundings. The appeal of potentially being outside for much of the day and night is very exciting for us. Both loving the beach and coast in general, the location really represents that and it has the feel of a destination wedding without really even leaving Sydney.
