Elisa & Thomas – Parklands Country & Gardens

About: “Well I guess Thomas and I have very different personalities, but that’s what makes our relationship work! I’m in fashion and Thomas is in finance, which is great as one of us is creative and the other is logical. We knew about each other from when we were young but only properly met at a spontaneous dinner that was organised by a mutual friend. It might not have been love at first sight, but I like to believe that there was a spark from the very start that brought us to where we are now.”

The Proposal: “Thomas’s proposal was a complete surprise. I’m a very hard person to surprise and I tend to catch onto things quite quickly, so even to this day I don’t know how he managed to keep it a secret! Thomas was in London visiting his sister and was arriving back on the Friday night. I had made lunch plans with my sister on the following day, Saturday, at a delicious restaurant in Watson’s Bay. Upon arriving to the restaurant, someone pulled me aside and guess who it was? It was Thomas. The whole lunch plan was a set up and we walked across to the small beach next to the restaurant, where he proposed. For a guy that can’t keep a secret, he kept the proposal a surprise until the very end.”

The Venue: “We wanted our wedding to be inside a marquee and at a venue that had both outdoor and indoor elements. We originally had looked at the Hunter Valley, but most venues in the Hunter were booked out. Being recommended this venue, we found that Parklands Country & Garden’s had a gorgeous marquee. We both instantly fell in love with the venue when we went for inspection and loved how it was surrounded by lush greenery. We’re both from the city so I think we felt that the venue was a perfect escape for our wedding – making it that more special.”

The Vision: “We both wanted our Parklands Blackheath wedding to be a fine balance between romance and fun. We both want our guests to have a good time and to enjoy themselves and want the day to be quite relaxed. Our venue itself is lovely garden theme, so our theme is quite boho and romantic.”
